Local outfit Whalers Brewing Company was set to launch their first bottled product for Rhode Island retail in 2015, and I was asked to design packaging for their summer heartthrob brew, East Coast IPA, with full creative control and freedom.
We landed on a clean, refined design that evokes summer Rhode Island nostalgia, with a mashup of South County and Newport vistas. This concept formed the thematic basis for the next two bottles in the series (oh, oops, spoiler alert).
Another opportunity to design for Whalers Brewing Company, this time for their flagship offering, Hazelnut Stout. The label and carrier feature the Ocean Mist in Wakefield (a favorite haunt of the brewers) and co-owner Josh Dunlap's now defunct boat, Animal Style, which should be enough evidence to indicate what kind of people I've gotten involved with.
My third design for Whalers Brewing Company is for The Rise, an American Pale Ale, release pending (sometime in 2016). Here the imagery moves to Providence - the iconic Manchester Street Power Station, downtown skyline, and the capitol - and features the Rhode Island Brewer's Guild tagline, #401CraftFamily.
